India has a multitude of amazing literature where philosophy is interwoven in thought and lifestyle. The Ramāyāna is a story of Rama, one of the incarnations of Viṣṇu, the deity of sustaining life. This offering has two components: a three hour introduction to the text. And, for those who want to dive deeper, part two continues in the afternoon and the following Saturday.
The session will start with a yogāsana practice as we explore different concepts from the Epic.
Join us to meet Rama and his wife Sitā as well as the infamous Hanuman, God of Devotion. Explore the symbolism of Rama’s three mothers, four brothers, going into the wilderness, battling Ravaṇa (the demon king), his relationship with his bother Lakṣmana and, very important, his relationship with his wife. What is the spiritual symbolism of Sitā finally saying ‘no’ to Rama?
Required to pre-read any version of the Ramāyāna, plus bring the book to the sessions.
