Assisting through touchpoints can be very powerful. To do this, you must be able to read the body. We will discuss body reading through the perception of both the physical and the psychosomatic presentation of the body.
You may ask, what is the importance of reading the body? The body is the manifestation of Spirit and, therefore, it is the silent communicator of Spirit. When we see the body, we see so much more than muscles and bones. We can see the story of a person. This may offer guidelines for when or when not to assist, or how affirming an assist may be.
In this ‘taste’ of body reading, the goal is to open the door to see beyond the annamāyākośa into the prāna-, mano-, and vijñanamāyākośa. It is important to realize we don’t know their story, but body reading is a guideline to dive into yoga:the union of body, mind and Spirit.
