From experience, running and managing a business can be difficult. The challenge is increased when you both run the business and are teaching. You are spread in many directions in the Business of Yoga.

Many teachers who don’t own their own studio but teach elsewhere have trouble succeeding due to a lack of basic business acumen. When you are teaching at other studios, are you including commuting time and other considerations into your compensation? Are you an employee or a contractor (and why does this matter)?

Regardless of whether you want to open your own studio, or teach at local studios, for a corporation, or another arrangement, you will need to understand the business of yoga.

This course is designed to cover many of the basics. Topics include:
* basics of establishing a business
– like a business plan, mission, vision, etc
* developing a business plan
* writing a resume
* current established best business practices
– including location choice, accounting, licensing, intake data and storage, considerations of signing a lease contract, etc
* developing a social media presence

The course will include a homeplay assignment that explores writing a business plan, mission, vision and ethics statement for the vision of your business.

3-punch handouts provided. Bring your own notebook or folder.
