Join in to experience the vibrations of the planets in this experiential course. These are the basic mantra that Amit uses in his Jyotiṣa work for the weekend too.

In Saṁskṛt, Jyotiṣa means “light of God.”  Jyotiṣa is the science of Karma. A Jyotiṣa chart shows us our karmic map or our karmic journey and it shows what results we may expect in this lifetime based on our past karma. Jyotiṣa is the study of the movement of the planets in various solar constellations (Signs), lunar constellations (Nakshatras) and houses (Bhāvās).  It is one of the six disciplines or limbs of the Vedas (known as Vedānga) and offers an understanding of the effects of the subtle powers of the universe.

A weekend is not adequate time to teach you how to read a jyotiṣa chart. Rather, we will learn some basic foundations of jyotiṣa, such as the basics of the planets (graha), constellations (rashi) and houses (bhāva).  The rising sign influences the body and the Moon governs the emotional mind.  We will discuss practices for students based on their sign.  Then, we will practice a meditation  based on the position of the Moon.

You will submit your birthdate, exact time of birth and location of birth so you can receive your chart.

3-punch handouts provided. Bring your own notebook or folder.
